Katie and Mike at Shearsby Bath

Katie & Mike have chosen to have their wedding at Shearsby Bath Hotel in Leicestershire and as their wedding day is rapidly approaching we met up for a pre-wedding portrait shoot at Shearsby Bath. This is something I offer to all of my wedding clients, it’s a great way of having a look around the venue and getting to know each other.  It also gives the couple a chance to see how I will be working during their big day which is very important for them to be relaxed at their wedding.  This is a standard part of the service I offer and is entirely free of charge, the couple are also invited to select a print from their personal gallery in the Client Area of my website.

Katie & Mike have decided to have all of their high resolution wedding images on disk in addition to their wedding album, it’s a versatile and cost effective choice that will allow them to retain ownership of their images for all time.

What a super, fun-loving couple and their wedding looks set to be a wonderful day, I’m really looking forward joining Katie & Mike at Shearsby Bath Hotel!

Matt and Natalie’s wedding. Egleton Church, Oakham, Rutland.

Matt and Natalie’s ceremony took place in Rutland at beautiful Egleton Church followed by their laid-back reception at the lovely old coaching inn, The Falcon in Uppingham.  Natalie, her father and bridesmaids Willow, Poppy & Fern arrived at Egleton Church in a vintage Volkswagen bus.

After the wedding ceremony, Matt, Natalie and the girls left Egleton in the VW for The Falcon Inn.  It was a lovely, relaxed day and a pleasure for me to attend as their wedding photographer.

The couple have 400 beautiful high resolution images of their wedding day on disk!

Jodie & Jeremy

Jodie and Jeremy have chosen me as their wedding photographer on 10th December 2010 at Sketchley Grange Hotel, Burbage, Leicestershire.  What a lovely couple! They were looking for a qualified professional wedding photographer who can provide excellent customer care, stylish, contemporary wedding photography with a superlative reputation and a disk of high resolution images of their wedding.

Thank you Jodie & Jeremy for choosing Steve Walton Photography Ltd, I’m looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks time at Sketchley Grange Hotel for our pre-wedding meeting and complimentary portrait shoot.

Karl & Hayley’s Prestwold Hall Wedding

Karl & Hayley’s wedding took place in Leicestershire on Saturday 5th June at St. Andrew’s Church, Prestwold, followed by their reception at Prestwold Hall.  The event was overseen by Nici Wood with her customary calm expertise to ensure that the happy couple and their guests had a wonderful day.

Karl & Hayley booked me to photograph their wedding over a year ago.  From the outset, they wanted a disk of all their high resolution wedding images before deciding on a wedding album.  The couple could not have wished for better weather, it was a beautiful day in every way and I was privileged to attend as their photographer. With plenty of activity going on around them at Prestwold Hall, Karl and Hayley have over 460 high resolution files on their wedding disk to provide them with a lasting and versatile record of their special day.

All Inclusive Wedding Deals

Most couples like to choose their own wedding suppliers.  From the venue,  the florist, the cake, the car hire company and the photographer, the whole process of choosing products and services is something that most couples want to enjoy and share the experience together as part of the build up to their wedding day.  It’s what makes their day special, they have created it for themselves with their own ideas and choices.

So what about the alternative ‘one stop shop’ option of All Inclusive Weddings that is offered by some venues?  You pay a fixed price to the venue for a range of suppliers and services.  The florist,  the car and the photographer are usually part of the deal.  The concept will appeal to many couples as it removes the need to make multiple email and telephone enquiries, as well as arranging meetings with suppliers to make product and price comparisons between them when choosing who to have for your wedding.   All Inclusive Wedding offers are usually restricted to weekdays only.

The venue, of course, will be exactly what you see and a fixed number of guests will be covered, possibly with an adequate drinks allowance.  If your guest list is higher than the deal offers, you may need to reduce the number of guests at your wedding or pay a higher rate for the extra guests.  Make sure you see the car before booking to know exactly what you will get on your wedding day.  The flowers will be perfectly adequate, but make sure that everything you want is included.  There should be a quality bridal bouquet and enough hand-ties and coursages (button-holes!) for the Bridal Party as well as centre-pieces for the tables and mantle shelves.

The risk lies with the packaged photographer.  Can you be certain that the wedding photographer who is sold to you is the one who will be photographing your wedding?  Is the album that you were shown by the venue the photographer’s own work?

A significant portion of the All Inclusive fee will be taken by the photographer and that may well be in the region of £1500, but you can be certain that the album will not be a top quality product.

Would you pay £1500 for a photographer who you might not meet until they turn up on your wedding day and can only supply a low to mid quality off-the-peg wedding album?

Whilst an All Inclusive Weddings package may be attractive, there are a few caveats and in today’s marketplace, everything is negotiable – especially your choice of wedding photographer and your choice of a wedding album or a disk – or both!

Choosing  your own photographer could well bring cost savings too, book Steve Walton to photograph your wedding and I guarantee there will be a significant saving as well as the option of choosing from a range of high quality products, including all of your wedding images on disk!

Your wedding is just one day and one chance, but your photographs are there for more than a lifetime  It’s your choice!
